What is a hcsm - Healthcare Sharing Ministries?
A handful of Healthcare Sharing programs offer an alternative to health insurance.
Impact Health Sharing keeps it simple. Funds are matched between members monthly, and payments are sent directly to the providers. When you visit a provider, have them send the bill to us, and we will guide you on the next steps. Once your family meets your annual Primary Responsibility Amount, other members will begin to share in your eligible medical bills as well, showing the caring community aspect of Impact Health Sharing.
Monthly payments from members are much lower than the typical monthly premiums charged for insurance coverage on high cost health insurance plans.
Let's explore the amazing perks of being a part of this health care sharing community of like-minded people choosing to care for one another instead of sending money to a big corporation.
Telemedicine
Access a licensed doctor from the comfort of your home 24/7 with no consultation fees. These doctors can prescribe medicine 24/7, which means you have access to care when you travel, in the middle of the night, and after moving to a new city where you have yet to establish a physician. This convenient option will come in handy over and over again!
Member-to-member communication
Members have the unique opportunity to encourage and send prayers to one another. These comforting messages often bring exactly what’s needed to remind them that they are not alone and that there is a community standing behind them during difficult times.
Can Anyone Join Healthshares?
Our membership is made up of like-minded individuals, families, and small businesses who agree with the Statement of Shared Ethics & Standards. There are no restrictions based on race, color, religion, or creed. Additionally, members agree to live by lifestyle standards that include no use of illegal drugs in the past 12 months prior to membership.
How Long Has Healthcare Sharing Been Around?
Healthcare Sharing organizations have been around for over 25 years. They are a community of families, individuals, and small businesses that leverage technology to share and pay one another's medical bills. It embraces the digital age and the reality that technological advances disrupt institutions of old.
No Open Enrollment
Since Impact is not insurance, there is no limit on when you can apply. You will be able to choose which month you want your membership to begin.
Do You Have to be Christian to Join?
Impact Health Sharing is proud to be the very first healthcare sharing organization to accept all religious faiths or creeds into their sharing community. If you believe that we are on Earth to love and take care of our neighbors, then you are welcome to enroll in our Impact Health Sharing community.
Use any doctor
Impact does not use a Provider Network. Therefore, you can continue to use the doctors and hospitals of choice, including specialists.
Watch this video for information on using Impact at any provider.
Chiropractor visits
Unlike many other sharing programs, Impact members share in chiropractic therapy. Visits are limited to 50 per member per membership. Watch Impact member Lauren's chiropractor experience.
What Options are Available for Seniors over 65?
Each Healthcare Sharing organization works differently, and not all offer options for those with Medicare. Impact Health Sharing offers a low monthly amount to Seniors looking to reduce healthcare costs. Health coverage for medical benefits has increased year after year. For those on a fixed income, like Seniors, this can quickly become a significant stressor anytime sickness or disease arises.
Program Guidelines for Impact for Seniors are as follows:
1. If you are 65 or older, you are required to have Medicare Parts A & B to join Impact.
2. Impact is always secondary to Medicare Parts A & B. One great thing about this is that Impact members with Medicare have no preexisting condition restrictions or provider fees.
3. You are welcome to use your member card to access the pass-through direct pricing on prescriptions. One thing to note is that for prescription costs to be eligible for sharing, members must also have Medicare Part D.
4. All sharing will be secondary to Medicare. There is only one PRA level available to these senior adults (see pricing calculator). This program is available only on an individual membership basis.
5. The PRA for senior adults is $1,000 with no provider fee, no co-share, and no preexisting limitations.
Is Healthcare Sharing Affordable compared to Insurance?
There are dramatic savings over ACA Plans (Obamacare) and greater value than other health sharing programs. Prices start at $73/mo. for singles and $378/mo. for families. You can check out pricing options here.
Everyone needs health care, and if you're tired of the old way of doing things, we believe our system feels great and works better!
